BOISE, Idaho — Two of prep standouts in the 5A Southern Idaho Conference have been named nominees for the 2024 McDonald's All American Games, the top basketball showcase for high school seniors across the nation.

Owyhee guard Liam Campbell and Boise guard Avery Howell, who both signed with USC in November, are among the nominees to play at the Toyota Center in Houston against the country's best in April.

Players were selected by a prep coach, athletic director, principal or member of the McDonald's All American Games Selection Committee. The top 24 girls and 24 boys who will head to the Lone Star State will be announced on ESPN's NBA Today on Jan. 23 between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. MT (3-4 p.m. ET).

Campbell is a four-star prospect and ranked No. 76 in the ESPN 2024 Top 100. The 6-foot-5, 195-pound guard and top-rated recruit in Idaho was named the 5A SIC Player of the Year after averaging 17.4 points and 6.6 rebounds per game as a junior.

He also landed on the All-SIC First Team for the 2021-2022 campaign, the only sophomore to do so. Campbell picked the Trojans over Boise State, Colorado State, Stanford, UC Santa Barbara, Utah State, Washington State and a handful of other offers

Howell is a five-star recruit, ranked No. 23 nationally in the class of 2024 by ESPN. The 5-foot-11 guard set single-season records in points and rebounds as a junior with the Brave and was named the 2022-2023 Gatorade Idaho Girls Basketball Player of the Year.

After receiving offers from some of the nation's top programs, Howell narrowed her options down to USC, Utah, Washington, Indiana and Duke, before signing with the Trojans. She led Boise to a third-place finish at state last year, averaging 22.1 points, 13.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.8 steals per game.

Campbell is the lone McDonald's All American Games boys nominee from Idaho. Howell is joined by Coeur d'Alene's Teagan Colvin and Lake City's Avery Waddington on the list of girls nominees from the Gem State.

“This moment is really a culmination of the hard work each of these athletes have put into this game – all those long hours on the court, in the gym and classroom,” said Joe Wootten, McDonald’s All American Games Selection Committee Chairman. “My father, Morgan Wootten, co-founded this game over four decades ago, giving high school athletes a national platform to showcase their skills on the biggest stage. It means so much to me and my family to continue his legacy and give athletes this special moment to shine.”
