Idaho high school boys basketball rankings: State tournament favorites

BOISE, Idaho — Multiple rankings saw changes due to district tournament results Tuesday in the final Idaho high school boys basketball state media poll of the season ahead of state championships.

Following its opening round loss to Middleton in the 5A SIC bracket, Meridian dropped one spot in the classification's rankings. The Warriors were jumped by Timberline, who is set to face top-ranked Owyhee in the district title game Friday night at Idaho Central Arena.

Bishop Kelly moved up into the No. 3 spot and even stole two first-place votes from Hillcrest, last week's unanimous No. 1 in the 4A rankings. Bishop Kelly is riding a 13-game winning streak, with its last loss coming in mid-December.

At the 2A level, Nampa Christian made its debut in the poll Tuesday after knocking off both New Plymouth and Cole Valley Christian to earn a spot in the WIC championship game against No. 2 Ambrose on Wednesday.

15 teams within KTVB's coverage area appeared in their classification's top five in the final media poll. State tournaments tip off Thursday, Feb. 29, with championship Saturday scheduled for March 2.
