BOISE, Idaho — As district tournaments get underway around the Gem State, Tuesday's Idaho high school boys basketball state media poll provides clear predictions of the favorites to sit atop the throne at the end of postseason play.

Five teams remained the unanimous No. 1 in their respective classification in the latest rankings. Owyhee, Meridian and Timberline – who all landed in the 5A rankings – are in action Tuesday night to open the 5A SIC district tournament.

The 4A rankings once again went unchanged, with Hillcrest leading the way. The Knights picked up wins over Idaho Falls and Shelley in the past week, and have gone without a loss since an out-of-state tournament at the end of December.

Marsh Valley (3A), Melba (2A) and Oakley (1A DI) entered the state media poll this week. Also trending upwards is North Fremont (2A) and Kendrick (1A DII). The Tigers jumped Garden Valley and even picked up a first-place vote behind top-ranked Camas County.

15 teams within KTVB's coverage area appeared in their classification's top five on Tuesday. State tournaments tip off Thursday, Feb. 29, with championship Saturday scheduled for March 2.
