BOISE, Idaho — After claiming the 5A District Three title last winter, the Boise Brave are off to another impressive start, debuting at No. 1 on Thursday in the first Idaho high school girls basketball state media poll of the 2023-2024 season.

Boise is the lone Southern Idaho Conference squad ranked atop its respective rankings, although state runner-up Rocky Mountain (5A) and district champ Bishop Kelly (4A) both earned a spot in the poll. The Brave improved to 14-1 with a 79-29 win over Borah on Wednesday.

Only two unbeaten teams remain as of Thursday, with Shelley (4A) and Teton (3A) leading the way with all 13 first-place votes. 11 teams within KTVB's coverage area appeared in their classification's top five. The girls hoops state championships are scheduled for Feb. 15 - Feb. 17.
