BOISE, Idaho — For the first time in three weeks of rankings, the No. 1 spot does not belong to the defending 5A SIC champs. Lake City surpassed Boise to claim top-ranked status in the latest Idaho high school girls basketball state media poll, released Thursday.
Middleton, who was on the brink of cracking the 5A rankings in back-to-back weeks, made its debut in the media poll Thursday. The Vikings defeated Rocky Mountain this week and earned the No. 5 spot, previously held by the Grizzlies.
Kendrick also made its move to the top in the highly-contested top five at the 1A DII level. The Tigers leapfrogged Dietrich by just five points and a single first-place vote. Richfield climbed two spots and also received a pair of No. 1 votes from the experts.
12 teams within KTVB's coverage area appeared in their classification's top five. The girls hoops state championships are scheduled for Feb. 15 - Feb. 17.
