BOISE, Idaho — The sights and sounds of high school football return to stadiums across Idaho this weekend as the season kicks off with a limited schedule of season openers.
More than a dozen teams in KTVB's coverage area open the 2024 campaign Friday night. Homedale plays host to Snake River in a rematch of the 2023 state quarterfinals. The Trojans are No. 2 in the 4A rankings in the preseason state media poll.
The 5A slate features several showdowns between postseason participants from last year's 4A state tournament. Emmett opens its season against Canyon Ridge at home, Skyview visits Minico and Twin Falls travels north to face Sandpoint.
Nampa football was able to move down a classification this offseason to remain in the 5A Southern Idaho Conference with 6A enrollments numbers. The Bulldogs welcome Century for a non-conference bout Friday night.
Marsing opens the Mike Foristiere era against Cole Valley Christian following its 2023 playoff run under Shea McClellin, the new Vallivue head coach. The Chargers are also on the move, jumping up to compete in the 4A Snake River Valley Conference.
