BOISE, Idaho — The first full week of prep football in the Gem State generated several changes in the latest Idaho high school football state media poll, released Tuesday.
While the No. 1 team in each classification remained the same, four squads entered their division's top five Tuesday, including Buhl (4A) and Raft River (2A). Pocatello also made its debut in the media poll after defeating Skyview 29-23 in last week's 5A showdown.
Friday's Week 2 slate features a top-five matchup at the 5A level, with defending state champion and top-ranked Bishop Kelly hosting No. 4 Minico. The Spartans continue to climb after back-to-back wins over the Hawks and Mountain Home.
Southern Idaho Conference powers Rocky Mountain and Eagle sit at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively in the 6A rankings. Both teams won their season openers Saturday – the Grizzlies rolled past Kuna 53-14 and the Mustangs beat Meridian 28-13.
