Lauren Bouvia wins second consecutive POY award

For the second consecutive year, Weiser senior Lauren Bouvia was named the Idaho State Gatorade Girls Soccer Player of the Year.

WEISER -- For the second consecutive year, Weiser senior Lauren Bouvia was named the Idaho State Gatorade Girls Soccer Player of the Year.

Bouvia, who graduated at the top of her class and enrolled early at UC Davis, set the national scoring record in 2015 with 127 goals scored, leading the Wolverines to the 3A state title.

In 2016, Bouvia was a high school all-American, scoring 96 goals and recording 26 assits.

In her high school career, Bouvia scored 311 goals, the second most in prep history.

The last Idaho player to win the award back to back was Centennial's Sofia Huerta ('09-'10, '10-'11). Huerta now plays professionally for the Chicago Red Stars of the NWSL and Australia's Adelaide United
