MCCALL -- The McCall-Donnelly High School football team announced Saturday the hiring of former Bishop Kelly and Kuna High School football head coach Lee Leslie.
Athletic Director Mike Kraemer said Leslie's hiring came on April 13 at a school board meeting.
"We went through some interviews, and he just stood out," Kraemer said. "I think he brings some excitement. He is a good motivator for the kids."
The Vandals struggled last season, going 1-7 in the regular season.
Leslie, who left the Kavemen program after the 2013-2014 season, joined the three-time Hawaii state champions Kahuku Red Raiders' program after long-time head coach Reggie Torres resigned.
In his only season with the Red Raiders, Leslie went 9-3, earning a division title and a state playoff berth.
