Rocky Mountain's Quiros named Idaho Gatorade boys soccer Player of the Year

Quiros scored 21 goals and tallied 15 assists during Rocky Mountain's epic run to its first 5A state title.

MERIDIAN, Idaho — Rocky Mountain midfielder Kristian Quiros will likely remember his outstanding senior season for the foreseeable future.

During his prep career, Quiros scored 37 goals, with 21 of those coming last year alone, including a goal in the 5A state championship win over cross-town rival Timberline.

"This year, Kristian started to realize that he could affect the outcome of games and had confidence that allowed him to take things over," Rocky Mountain head coach Bill Taylor said. "He had a drive about him that was just not going to lose."

The two-time first-team all-state player will head to Arizona in the fall where he'll play for Yavapai College, a junior college powerhouse.

Quiros is the third Grizzly to be named an Idaho Gatorade Player of the year for the 2018-2019 school year, following Gabe Hughes (baseball) and Kaylan Walker (softball).
