Boise State gymnastics earns NCAA Regional bid for 16th-straight year

The Mountain West champions are headed to Arkansas to compete in the 2024 NCAA Regional Championships. Boise State will face BYU in the first round.

BOISE, Idaho — The Boise State gymnastics team heard its name called for the 16th-straight year on Monday as selections were announced for the 2024 NCAA Regional Championships.

Two days after winning the inaugural Mountain West Championship, the Broncos learned they are headed to Fayetteville, Arkansas, to compete April 3 - April 6. Boise State will face BYU in the first round in a rematch of last year's regional opener.

36 squads are picked to participate in regionals based on their National Qualifying Score (NQS). Boise State finished the regular season with a NQS of 196.715, which ranked 29th nationally. Fayetteville is one of four host sites.

Two teams, an all-arounder and four event specialists from each regional site will advance to the National Collegiate Women's Gymnastics Championships in Fort Worth, Texas. The national championships are set to begin April 18.

Boise State had four standouts qualify for regionals as individuals, headlined by Mountain West Gymnast of the Year and Bars Specialist of the year, Emily Lopez. She qualified as an individual on bars and beam.

Also qualifying was fifth-year senior Adriana Popp (beam), senior Courtney Blackson (bars and floor) and junior Emma Loyim (beam and floor). Eight teams, four all-around competitors and 16 event specialists will earn a spot in Fort Worth.

The Fayetteville regional features Arkansas, Arizona, Boise State, BYU, Kentucky, LSU, Minnesota, Nebraska and Oregon State. The bracket for the 2024 national championships is included below:
