BOISE, Idaho — Boise State men's basketball signed a talented transfer on Wednesday in former Indiana Wesleyan standout and 6-foot-7 forward Javan Buchanan.

Buchanan was named to the NAIA All-American first team this past season after averaging 20.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.1 blocks per season. The Indiana native shot 51.9% from the field and 35.0% from the three-point line.

The newest Bronco has two years of eligibility remaining and has never redshirted. Boise State had four scholarships available following the departures of Roddie Anderson and Chibuzo Agbo. It now has three after signing Buchanan.

Buchanan proved to be a big-time scorer at the NAIA level with six 30-point games last year and 1,094 total points in his first two collegiate seasons. He played in and started all 35 games for the Wildcats and landed on the All-Crossroads League first team.

"Javan has really developed this past year as a complete player by expanding several aspects of his game," Indiana Wesleyan head coach Greg Tonagel said. "His on the court growth is only rivaled by his spiritual growth. It is not a coincidence that the two go hand-in-hand."

As a sophomore, Buchanan led the Wildcats in points, rebounds, field goals, free throws and minutes. He scored in double figures 16 times as a freshman in 31 appearances and 24 starts, good for a spot on the Crossroads League All-Freshman Team.

The addition marks Boise State's first transfer commitment since landing former San Jose State point guard Alvaro Cardenas on April 10. In terms of departures, Agbo is headed to USC, Jace Whiting signed with UNLV and Kobe Young committed to Cal State Fullerton on Tuesday.

Buchanan provides the Broncos, who return starters in Tyson Degenhart and O'Mar Stanley, with impressive length and scoring ability. The NCAA basketball transfer portal shuts down Wednesday, with players having to enter by midnight.
