BOISE, Idaho β Boise State sophomore guard and Idaho product Jace Whiting entered the transfer portal on Thursday, sources told KTVB Sports Director Jay Tust.
The Burley High School graduate averaged 3.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game, and appeared in 33 contests during the Broncos' 2023-2024 campaign. Whiting shot 48.2% from the floor and 50.0% from the 3-point line.
Whiting started in six games during non-conference play before coming off the bench for the final three months of the season. He has two years of eligibly remaining and could contribute immediately once finding a new program to call home.
During Boise State's five-game winning streak late in the Mountain West slate, Whiting tied his career-high with 10 points in Laramie. The 6-foot-3 guard also posted season-highs in field goals made (4), field goal attempts (7) and 3-pointers made (2) in the February win over Wyoming.
Whiting posted similar numbers as a freshman, averaging 3.1 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists during the 2022-2023 season. His Bronco career included 66 games played and 11 starts.
After moving to the Gem State from Utah, Whiting was a two-time All-Great Basin League selection at Burley and finished his prep career as the Bobcats' all-time scoring leader with 1,430 points.
He landed on the All-Idaho First Team as a senior after averaging head-turning statistics with 24.4 points, 6.3 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game. Following graduation in 2020, Whiting spent two years in Finland serving an LDS mission.
