Boise State point guard Paris Austin was granted his release from the Broncos men's basketball program, the school confirmed to KTVB on Thursday.
The release allows Austin to talk with other schools to discuss a potential transfer.
Austin ranked second on the team in scoring as a sophomore, averaging 12.3 points per game during the 2016-17 season. He also led the team in assists per game (2.8) , free-throw attempts (165) and free-throw makes (126).
The junior-to-be did not miss a game last season; he made 32 appearances, including 18 starts. He was named All-Mountain West honorable mention by coaches and media.

The move came on the same day that the Broncos' leading scorer, Chandler Hutchison, announced he would withdraw from the upcoming NBA draft and return for his senior season.
Austin played as a true freshman and has yet to use his redshirt, meaning he could transfer, sit out a year, and still have two seasons of eligibility remaining afterward.
