BOISE, Idaho โ Boise State and App State on Thursday announced the two programs have agreed to a home-and-home football series, starting with a non-conference matchup at Albertsons Stadium in 2025.
The Broncos will welcome the Mountaineers to The Blue on Sept. 27, 2025. Boise State will visit App State's Kidd Brewer Stadium in Boone, North Carolina on Sept. 4, 2027.
Next year's bout marks the second-straight season Boise State will battle a team out of the Sun Belt Conference. The Broncos are scheduled to open the 2024 season at Georgia Southern on Saturday, Aug. 31.
The 2027 road trip serves as a blue and orange debut in North Carolina. App State's home winning percentage ranks seventh in the nation since 2000, with the Mountaineers going 134-26 (.838) in Boone.
Boise State touts the third-best home winning percentage in the country in the same stretch. The Broncos have a 135-16 (.894) record on The Blue since the turn of the century.
The September 2025 showdown to open the home-and-home series will not be the first meeting between the two programs. App State visited the City of Trees on Dec. 3, 1994 for the NCAA Division I-AA Quarterfinals.
Boise State claimed a 17-14 win "in a rain-soaked game" in front of more than 15,000 fans despite turning the ball over seven times. The quarterback matchup featured current Cincinnati head coach Scott Satterfield and former Bronco Tony Hilde.
Boise State owns a 13-0 all-time record against current members of the Sun Belt, with a 4-0 mark against Southern Miss and a pair of wins each over Arkansas State, Louisiana, Marshall and Troy.
The Broncos' 2025 non-conference schedule is now filled out and features road trips to South Florida and Houston, and home games against Eastern Washington and App State.
The 2027 non-conference slate โ which has one spot open โ includes visits to App State and Marshall, with a home game against South Florida.
