BOISE, Idaho — Boise State's iconic Blue Turf has been nominated yet again for the "Best Attraction for Sports Fans" in the United States. The "smurf turf" won the title last year and is nominated as a candidate again this year.
The list comes from a USA TODAY expert panel who released the candidates for the 2024 10 Best Readers' Choice travel awards. The Blue at Albertsons Stadium won first place last year over multiple sport-specific museums and the "Field of Dreams" movie site.
The winner is determined by an online vote and fans are allowed to vote once a day until Monday, Sept. 30 at 10 a.m. MT.
"Bronco Nation, we need your help! Let's show the nation the power of The BLUE, add your vote today and every day," Director of Athletics Jeramiah Dickey said. "We want to keep the title of 'Best Attraction for Sports Fans' in Boise and the Treasure Valley, and we know Bronco Nation will show up and vote often!"
Boise State is trying to get everyone to vote for this award once a day. At the time of posting, the Blue Turf currently sits at third place in the poll. The school is also asking for people to share their stories and pictures of their visits to the stadium using this form.
The Broncos travel to Eugene to face No. 7 Oregon at 8 p.m. MT Saturday, Sept. 7 on Peacock. Boise State's home opener at Albertsons Stadium is set for Saturday, Sept. 21 against Portland State.
