BOISE, Idaho — Boise State Athletics on Tuesday announced it received a $1 million gift directly for the Bronco football program from a donor who asks to stay anonymous.
The announcement from Director of Athletics Jeramiah Dickey marks the 14th seven-figure commitment from 10 different individuals or families since the launch of the Lyle Smith Society in December 2020.
The athletic department received a pair of donations of at least $1 million within two weeks following the launch of 'UnBridled: The Campaign for Boise State University.' The second commitment directly benefited Bronco women's sports programs and covered the cost to install lights for Huber Field at Dona Larsen Park, the home of the softball team.
Boise State's latest donation release did not include specific details on how the funding would be used to benefit head coach Spencer Danielson's program, but is designated entirely for assisting football.
"We have the privilege to pour in and build up these young men at such a pivotal time in their lives," Danielson said. "Your investment makes a difference today for every one of our student-athletes and prepares them for the future."
Dickey in October set a $150 million athletics fundraising goal as part of Unbridled, which runs through 2028. The athletics pillar of Unbridled focuses on facility upgrades and enhanced programming for student-athletes. Tuesday's gift is the third of $1 million since the campaign publicly launched.
"We need every citizen of Bronco Nation to embrace the opportunity and provide the resources to help fund scholarships for student-athletes and capital projects to meet our goal," Dickey said. "There are opportunities at every giving level."
Boise State Athletics' annual 36-hour philanthropic giving campaign, known as Bronco Giving Day, runs Wednesday and Thursday. For more information on Bronco Giving Day, click here.
