BOISE, Idaho — Boise State football on Thursday announced its 2024 Mountain West home and away schedule, in addition to a few notable changes to the non-conference slate.
As part of the conference's scheduling alliance with the lone members of the Pac-12, Oregon State and Washington State, the Broncos will host the Cougars on The Blue. Boise State's matchup with the Beavers at Albertsons Stadium remains on the schedule as a non-conference game.
Thursday's announcement includes a few date changes following the season opener currently set for Aug. 31 at Georgia Southern. The Broncos are now scheduled to visit the Oregon Ducks in Eugene on Sept. 7, the day Boise State was previously expected to host the Beavers.
The home games against Oregon State and Washington State will be announced at a later date. The 2024 contests with the remaining members of the Pac-12 will not count towards Boise State's conference record and each Mountain West squad will face seven teams in the league.
Boise State and Oregon were originally schedule to play a three-game series, with 2024 and 2026 matchups in Eugene and the Ducks visiting The Blue in 2024. It was unveiled Thursday that the series has been converted to two games, meaning Oregon will no longer come to Boise.
As part of the two guaranteed games against the Ducks, Oregon will pay Boise State $2.6 million to visit Autzen Stadium in 2024 and 2025. While the loss of the 2025 home game may disappoint members of Bronco Nation, the Ducks could have bought their way out of the three-game contract for $1 million.
The matchups during the Mountain West's 2023-2025 schedule rotation were adjusted to ensure each program had four home games and four games on the road with the addition of a Pac-12 opponent. The Broncos' matchup with New Mexico was dropped in order to fit the Cougars on the 2024 schedule.
Nevada, San Diego State, Utah State and Washington State will each travel to Albertsons Stadium next fall. Boise State will play on the road against Hawai'i, San José State, UNLV and Wyoming.
The two teams with the highest Mountain West winning percentage will meet in the conference championship game on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024. Next year's schedule will stretch across 14 weeks.
Thursday's release includes the addition of Portland State to the schedule. The Broncos will host the Vikings on The Blue the week of Sept. 21, 2024. Boise State Athletics said the exact dates of non-conference games are subject to change based on national television selections.
