BOISE, Idaho — Boise State's all-time leader in career field goals made and four-time All-Mountain West honoree Jonah Dalmas on Friday announced he is returning for the 2024 season.
The Idaho native surpassed Kyle Brotzman in the Boise State record books by drilling his 69th field goal as a Bronco against Fresno State in November. Dalmas went 24-for-27 (88.89%) in 2023 and earned a spot on the all-conference second team.
Dalmas has a chance to be the greatest kicker in college football history. His 80 field goals made at Boise State is just 17 shy of the NCAA all-time record of 97, held by NC State's Christopher Dunn. Dalmas has drilled at least 23 kicks in each of the past three seasons.
“Boise State, you have been good to me! And for that, we are running it back in 2024! I’M BACK," Dalmas said Friday on social media. “My brothers and I are on a mission and we are never satisfied. I’m doing this for my brothers and The Brotherhood and I can’t wait for what’s next.”
The former Rocky Mountain High School standout also tied the program record with a 56-yard boot against UCF this fall, matching Roberto Moran's mark set against UC Davis in September 1985 for longest field goal made as a Bronco.
Dalmas' return to the City of Trees is massive for head coach Spencer Danielson and special teams assistant Tyler Rausa, who also announced earlier this week he is coming back in 2024. The Broncos will once again boast one of the best kicker-punter duos in the country in Dalmas and James Ferguson-Reynolds.
Since debuting at Boise State in 2020, Dalmas has made 88.9% of his field goals, right under the NCAA all-time record of 89.5%. His career percentage is also a Bronco record, and Dalmas' 26 field goals made during the 2021 campaign ranks No. 1 in program history for a single season.
With 404 points scored, the Meridian native is only 36 points away from the career record at Boise State. Dalmas could join Arizona State graduate Zane Gonzalez as the only players in FBS history to have four seasons with at least 20 successful field goal tries.
Dalmas earned a spot on the All-Mountain West first team in 2021, and received an all-conference honorable mention nod in 2020 and again in 2022. He is also a two-time semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award, given annually to the top placekicker in college football.
A handful of other veterans are coming back to Boise in 2024, including Michael Callahan (DT), Tyler Crowe (RB), Ashton Jeanty (RB), Markel Reed (CB), Andrew Simpson (LB) and Alexander Teubner (S).
