MEMPHIS -- A newspaper in Memphis, Tennessee, is reporting that the University of Memphis is working on a move to join the Big East Conference in 2013. That is the same year Boise State is set to join.
Along with the Broncos, several other schools will be joining the Big East as well: Houston, Central Florida, San Diego, and SMU.
The University of Memphis football team went 2-10 last season and they have not been to a bowl game since 2008. The move could help the Big East on the basketball court, however. The Tigers have been regulars in the top 25 for the past few season, although they are not currently ranked.
The Big East is trying to replace basketball powers Syracruse, Pittsburgh, and West Virginia.
