No. 13 Boise State takes to the Golden State on Saturday seeking a statement win at San Jose State in a showdown between two of the top-four squads in the Mountain West standings.

The Broncos can secure a spot in the conference title game with a victory and a UNLV loss against San Diego State. Beating the Spartans also keeps Boise State in position for the College Football Playoff as the Group of Five frontrunner.

Saturday serves as an opportunity for Boise State to turn heads with a flashy performance following a sloppy outing against Nevada. The Broncos – 24-point favorites on The Blue – overcame two turnovers in the 28-21 win.

Boise State quarterback Maddux Madsen completed 9 of 20 passes for 119 yards, one touchdown and an interception against the Wolf Pack, one week after throwing for a career-best 307 yards and four scores on the Aztecs.

The often-efficient signal caller hadn't tossed a pick since the Broncos' 45-24 win over Washington State on Sept. 28. A bounce-back game could be in store with San Jose State allowing 235.9 passing yards per game, ranked No. 95 in the FBS.

Successful pass defense could be the main key on both sides of the Mountain West matchup. The Broncos head to California ranked No. 110 in the nation, giving up 247.1 yards per week.

The Spartans tout the country's No. 5 passing offense, generating an average of 332.2 yards. Quarterbacks Emmett Brown and Walker Eget have each thrown for more than 1,300 yards this season, and Brown has 16 passing touchdowns.

Heisman Trophy candidate and Boise State star running back Ashton Jeanty leads the nation in rushing yards (1,734), rushing touchdowns (23), total touchdowns (24) and all-purpose yards (1,827).

San Jose State redshirt senior Nick Nash is No. 1 in the FBS in receptions (86), receiving yards (1,156) and touchdown grabs (13). Nash has at least one score in each game this fall – including a three-touchdown, 225-yard performance against Kennesaw State.

No. 13 Boise State is a two-touchdown favorite against the Spartans. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. MT Saturday, Nov. 16 on CBS Sports Network. Information on how to watch the conference contest is included in this article.
