Idaho extends head football coach Jason Eck through 2028

The Idaho State Board of Education approved a two-year contract extension this week that will keep Eck in Moscow through the 2028 season.

MOSCOW, Idaho — University of Idaho Head Football Coach Jason Eck will continue to coach the team through the 2028 season, the school announced on Wednesday.

The Idaho State Board of Education approved a two-year contract extension this week. This comes after Eck led the Vandals to back-to-back playoff appearances, including a quarterfinal appearance in 2023. Eck has 16-9 record since taking over as head coach, which includes a 12-4 Big Sky Conference play record. Leaving Eck with one of the best two-year conference records in program history.

"We are very pleased with the progress our program has made in our first two years," Eck said in a press release. "We are not content. Our sights are set on bringing a championship to Moscow. My family and I love the University of Idaho and this community. We are grateful to President Scott Green and Terry Gawlik for this contract extension to remain here."

The Vandals Open the 2024 season on the road at Oregon on August 31. Fall camp begins in late July.
