PORTLAND, Ore. — The Idaho Vandals used four rushing touchdowns combined between redshirt freshmen Art Williams and Deshaun Buchanan to beat Portland State 39-30.

Idaho was without starting quarterback Jack Layne due to a wrist injury suffered in practice, so Jack Wagner started for the Vandals and threw a touchdown pass to Jordan Dwyer in the win.

Portland State took a 21-14 lead midway through the second quarter, but the Vandals answered with a pair of Buchanan rushing touchdowns to take a 28-21 lead into the half.

Buchanan rushed for 212 yards on 22 carries and had the two scores in the win.

The Vandal lead was cut to 31-30 late in the fourth quarter, but Idaho led a long scoring drive capped off by a fourth and two conversion by Williams to set up a Williams rushing touchdown.

After a Portland State penalty, Williams added the two point conversion to douse the Vikings' hopes.

Wagner was 11-15 for 205 yards and a touchdown in his start. Dwyer had five receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown.

The Vandals are now 7-3 on the season and will host Weber State next Saturday at the Kibbie Dome. Kick off is set for 5 pm.
