PARIS, France — Chloé Dygert has put herself in position to pad her Paris Olympics medal total.
The 27-year-old Brownsburg rider was on the U.S. foursome that had the second-fastest time in track cycling’s team pursuit qualifying Tuesday in the velodrome at Montigny-Le-Bretonneux, France.
New Zealand had the fastest time, 4:04.679. The United States and Great Britain were next in 4:05.238 and 4:06.710, respectively.
The Americans and British will race Wednesday in the first round for a spot in the gold-medal final.
The U.S team featured two women who have Paris medals from the road: Dygert, bronze in individual time trial, and Faulkner, gold in the road race. Joining them were Jennifer Valente, who was with Dygert on teams winning silver in 2016 and bronze in 2021, and Lily Williams, a bronze medalist on the 2021 team.
So all four Americans are Olympic medalists.
Dygert crashed in both of her Paris road events. She recovered to finish third in the individual time trial and 15th in the road race.
Faulkner, 31, is an Alaskan who was a rower at Harvard. She began competitive cycling seven years ago.
