Elizabeth Bird of Britain competes during qualifying at the World Athletics Championships, July 16, 2022, in Eugene, Oregon.

The two-time Olympian is set to represent Great Britain in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase final at 1:14 p.m. MT Tuesday on KTVB Channel 7 and NBC. Bird placed ninth in the event at the 2021 Tokyo Games.

Bird finished fourth in her respective heat Sunday with a time of 9:16.46 to claim a spot in the final. She is coached by Pat McCurry, the head coach of the Boise State track and field and cross country teams.

The native of St. Albans Herts, England, posted a winning time of 9:29.67 at the 2024 UK Championships in June to secure her spot in Paris. Bird then ran a 9:09.07 on July 7 at the Meeting De Paris.

The two-time European Championship bronze medalist and one-time Commonwealth Games silver medalist will compete against Team USA's Valerie Constien and Courtney Wayment in the Olympic steeplechase final Tuesday in Paris.

Chloe Dygert of United States competes in the women's cycling time trial event at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Saturday, July 27, 2024.

Dygert begins her third Olympic event in the team pursuit on the track following appearances in the women's individual time trail and the road race. Qualifying is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. MT Tuesday

The Team USA cyclist is coached by three-time Olympic gold medalist Kristin Armstrong, who was in Paris when Dygert captured a bronze medal in the time trial on Saturday, July 27. She crashed on the wet pavement during the race, but climbed back to claim a spot on the podium and her third medal.

Dygert crashed again in the road race on Sunday, Aug. 4, but finished 15th with a time of 4:03:04. Kristen Faulkner won the race and became the first American rider in 40 years to win a medal in the event.

Dygert won a silver medal for the United States in the women's team pursuit at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, followed by a bronze medal in the event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The eight-fastest teams will advance to the first round, which gets underway at 5:52 a.m. MT Wednesday, Aug. 7.

The U.S. Women's National Team meets Germany in the semifinals Tuesday in Lyon at 10 a.m. MT. Sams, who was added to the roster as an alternate in July, debuted on the game day roster in the Americans' win over Australia in the final match of group play.

Sams also appeared on the game day squad for Saturday's 1-0 win over Japan in the quarterfinals. The United States beat Germany, who advanced on penalties after a scoreless draw with Canada, in the group stage 4-1.

The former Centennial High School and Boise Timbers-Thorns standout replaced Lynn Williams, who joined the 18-player roster after Catarina Macario was ruled out, as an alternate for the Paris Olympics. Sams moved to Florida after competing with the Patriots as a freshman.

The Team USA alternate was selected by the Orlando Pride with the third overall pick in the first round of the 2023 NWSL Draft. The Pride entered the Olympic break with an 11-0-5 record, with Orlando's backline holding opponents to a league-low 12 goals in 16 matches.

A win for Sams and the U.S. on Tuesday puts them in the gold medal match. A loss to Germany means the national team is headed to the bronze medal match.
