MONTPELIER, Idaho — No trout about it, Austin Christensen from Montpelier, Idaho has set a new state record for catching a tiger trout that was 9.3 pounds and 27.25 inches long. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG), said Christensen caught the fish in the Montpelier Reservoir.
"The previous state record tiger trout of 8.3 pounds set by Tyson Lutz - another Montpelier local angler - had only been caught weeks before on May 17 from the same lake," IDFG stated.
He caught the fish on June 1. According to IDFG, tiger trout are hybrids and were introduced to the Reservoir in 2016.
Christensen is an example of how anyfin is possible if you set your line to it.
