BOISE, Idaho — According to GasBuddy, gas prices in Boise have dropped three cents in the last week, marking a new average price of $3.51 per gallon on Monday.

GasBuddy surveys 216 gas stations in the Boise area, and they report that gas prices are 27 cents per gallon lower than a month ago, and 38 cents lower than a year ago.

GasBuddy reports that the cheapest station in Boise was priced at $3.32 per gallon on Sunday, and the most expensive was priced at $3.99 per gallon, a difference of 67 cents.

As for the State of Idaho, the lowest priced station was $2.93 per gallon, and the most expensive was priced at $4.29 per gallon, a difference of $1.36 per gallon.

According to AAA, Idaho ranks 12th in the nation for more expensive fuel.

“Last week, the state average dropped by six cents, and this week, by three cents.  We may see pump prices bottom out soon for the duration of the summer,” said AAA Idaho public affairs director Matthew Conde.  “With the 4th of July just around the corner and a record number of travelers expected to hit the roads and head for the airports, this season of unusual savings may soon come to an end.”

Nationally, the average price has gone up fractionally, by 0.3 cents, and is averaging $3.41 per gallon on Monday. The national average is down 18 cents from a month ago, and is 14 cents lower than a year ago, according to GasBuddy's data.

"With summer now officially here, we've seen the national average price of gasoline holding most steady compared to last week, with some states seeing their traditional price cycling every couple of weeks, while others have seen prices slowly slip," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. "For now, gasoline prices may see little movement ahead of July 4 as oil prices have risen above $80. But the good news is that instead of the national average jumping to follow the rising price of oil, it's holding steady. The bummer is that the decreases we hoped for will have to wait, thanks to oil's climb."
