BOISE, Idaho — Boise sees a new average price for gasoline on Monday, hitting the $2.93 per gallon mark, according to GasBuddy.
In a survey of 216 gas stations in Boise, prices in Boise are 29.7 cents less than a month ago, and 57 cents less than a year ago.
The cheapest station in Boise according to GasBuddy sits at $2.78 per gallon on Monday, where the most expensive gas sits at $3.09 per gallon, a difference of 31 cents. As for the Gem State, the lowest price statewide was $2.21, while the highest was $3.59 per gallon, a difference of $1.38 per gallon.
According to AAA, Idaho's average gas price is $2.89 per gallon. Idaho ranks between 29th for most expensive fuel in the country, when Idaho is usually around 8th place nationally. Neighboring states of Utah and Wyoming are leading the nation in cheapest fuel, AAA said.
The national average for gasoline has actually increased in the past week, by 4.5 cents, marking the national average $3.07 per gallon. That price is still 4.1 cents per gallon less than a month ago and is 41.2 cents lower than a year ago.
The national average price for diesel has dropped half a cent in the last week, and is priced at $3.87 per gallon.
"We've seen the national average price of gasoline bounce back up after cold weather related refinery shutdowns pushed up the wholesale price of gasoline. Plus, recent GDP data and new attacks in the Red Sea have pushed oil prices to their highest level since November," Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy said. "While prices have inched up and may continue to slowly rise, I believe the larger increases will be witnessed in a few weeks as we enter mid-February, lasting through April or May, during which the national average could rise 35 to 85 cents per gallon. Other issues and tensions could complicate how quickly prices rise or how high they go, so while the rise is not completely charted, it could deviate from our expectations."
