BOISE, Idaho — Boise gets the slightest break at the pump this week, with prices dipping 0.3 cents per gallon on average.

The new average for a gallon of gas in Boise sits at $3.11 on Monday, according to GasBuddy's survey of 216 stations in the Boise area. Prices in Boise are 30 cents lower than a month ago, and are 57 cents lower than a year ago.

As for diesel, it also dropped fractionally, with a decline of 0.4 cents.

According to GasBuddy, the cheapest station in Boise was priced at $2.96 per gallon on Sunday, while the most expensive was priced at $3.59 per gallon, a difference of 63 cents.

As for the Gem State, the lowest price in the state on Sunday was $2.56 per gallon, where the most expensive was $3.99 per gallon, a difference of $1.43 per gallon.

The national average also declined fractionally, with a decline of 0.7 cents.

"Several states saw gas prices jump or 'cycle' last week, a behavior in which gas prices climb significantly after falling below a station's replacement price. This led the national average to see little meaningful change from last week, with many states experiencing a slow decline, offsetting the few states that did see big jumps," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. "However, the good news is that those states that saw large jumps last week will likely see some of the biggest declines at the pump this week, paving the way for the national average to fall, potentially below $3 per gallon, just in time for Thanksgiving, with GasBuddy tracking 28 states already below that level."
