GasBuddy reports 1 cent dip in gas prices in Boise

The cheapest station in Boise was priced at $3.73 per gallon on Sunday, whereas the most expensive station was priced at $3.99 per gallon, a difference of 26 cents.

BOISE, Idaho — With only a cent drop in gas prices, Boise sees little reprieve at gas stations.

According to GasBuddy's survey of 216 stations in the Boise area, fuel prices dipped one cents this week, marking a new average price of $3.87 per gallon. That price is only 0.5 cents lower than a month ago, and two cents lower than a year ago.

The cheapest station in Boise was priced at $3.73 per gallon on Sunday, whereas the most expensive station was priced at $3.99 per gallon, a difference of 26 cents.

As for the state, the cheapest station was priced at $3.16 per gallon and the most expensive was priced at $4.24 per gallon, a difference of $1.08.

According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of gas on May 13 was $3.61.

Nationally, the average price of gas has gone down three cents per gallon in the last week, with a new average price of $3.58 per gallon. That price is down almost four cents lower than a month ago, and is six cents higher than a year ago.

"While pump prices haven't exactly plummeted, we've seen the average price of gasoline drop in a majority of states over the last week as refineries finish maintenance and ramp up output of products like gasoline," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. "With gas prices now nearing a 10-cent drop to the high we saw a few weeks ago, the future looks good as we get closer to Memorial Day; price drops could potentially accelerate after last week's jobs data shows the economy continues to cool off. While gas prices stand slightly above where they were last year, I expect most Americans will see prices fall before the holiday weekend, and I'm optimistic the trend could extend into June and beyond. I'm excited to say it does appear that for now, the worst is behind us."
