Eastbound I-84 to be shut down Thursday night

Workers will be installing overhead signs over the closed section ahead of future expansion projects, according to the Idaho Transportation Department.

NAMPA, Idaho — A section of I-84 will be shut down in Canyon County Thursday night into Friday morning as crews work in the area.

Eastbound lanes between the Franklin Road and Karcher/Midland interchange will close at 10 p.m. Thursday through 5 a.m. Friday. A detour will take travelers off the interstate at Franklin Road.

Workers will be installing overhead signs over the closed section ahead of future expansion projects, according to the Idaho Transportation Department.

"Installing overhead signs is a significant step toward opening the new lanes of I-84," said Mark Campbell. "Our goal is to complete as much work as possible before winter weather hits. Construction on this section of I-84 in Nampa is on track to be completed in early 2021."

Drivers should plan for some delays and slow down when approaching the detour area.
