IDAHO FALLS, Idaho — A 19-year-old woman from Ammon was killed in a two-vehicle crash that occurred on US 26 east of Idaho Falls on Saturday afternoon, according to Idaho State Police (ISP).
18-year-old Leah Belknap of Idaho Falls was driving north toward an intersection at 45th East and US 26 in a 2010 Subaru Impreza when police said she was hit by a 2010 GMC Sierra. The Sierra was driven by 49-year-old Felipe Lopez-Sandoval of Jackson, Wyoming.
Belknap's passenger, 19-year-old Bradylee Packer of Ammon, passed away from her injuries at the scene of the crash. Belknap and Lopez-Sandoval were taken to a nearby hospital, as well as a juvenile passenger that was traveling with Lopez-Sandoval.
Belknap passed away from her injuries at the hospital.
ISP said all people involved in the crash were wearing a seatbelt. Westbound lanes on US26 were blocked for about three hours but have since reopened.
The crash is still under investigation by ISP.
