CALDWELL, Idaho — Crews worked to clean up a diesel spill after a semi collided with a passenger car on Interstate 84.
The crash happened at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday on the eastbound side of the interstate in Caldwell.
According to Idaho State Police, 18-year-old Gabriel Jenkins of Meridian was driving east in an Audi when he fell asleep at the wheel. Jenkins' car drifted across the line and hit a Freightliner semi driven by 34-year-old Gregory Smith of Florida.
The impact ruptured the semi's fuel tank, sending diesel spilling out onto the highway.
Neither Jenkins nor Smith was hurt in the collision.
Eastbound I-84 was closed for two-and-a-half hours while crews removed the diesel and police investigated the crash.
All lanes are now back open.
