Crash that closed section of I-84 sends 4 to hospital

Crash that closed a section of I-84 for two hours now cleared, but four people are in the hospital.
Injury accident blocked a portion of I-84 on Saturday.

BOISE -- The section of I-84 that was blocked due to an injury accident is now back open. Ada County officials say the crash occurred east of Boise near milepost 72 on I-84.

Idaho State Police say 25-year-old Gerren Lee of Pinon, Arizona was parked on the shoulder of westbound I-84 with a flat tire. ISP officials tell KTVB that Lee then tried to cross the median onto the eastbound side when he was hit by another car, a 1986 Toyota Corolla.

Lee was taken to at Boise hospital by air ambulance. Emergency crews on the ground took Lee's passenger, Shane Wenslow, to a Boise hospital.

The driver of the Corolla, 33-year-old Dominique Zavala, and his passenger 33-year-old Theresa Rodriguez, were also taken to a Boise hospital. Both are from Mountain Home.

Eastbound lanes on I-84 between Exit 71 and Exit 74 were blocked for about two hours.

The crash is still under investigation.
