Single-vehicle crash near Greenleaf leaves one dead, one injured

Idaho State Police is investigating a crash that occurred near Greenleaf early Sunday morning.

BOISE, Idaho — Idaho State Police is investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred early Sunday morning near Greenleaf. One person was injured in the crash and another was killed.

31-year-old Nampa resident Scotty Abbott was driving south on Friends Road. He was traveling with a passenger, 34-year-old Payette resident Tannesa Cavaness. 

Around 1:30 a.m., Abbott veered off the right shoulder of the intersection near Middle and Friend Roads. He over-corrected, causing the vehicle to roll and land on the left side of the road. Both Abbott and Cavaness were ejected from the vehicle.

The two were taken to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, where Abbott was later pronounced dead. ISP said the two were not wearing their seatbelts.

This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
