CALDWELL, Idaho — Eastbound I-84 will be closed overnight between Karcher Road and Midland Boulevard in Nampa and Franklin Road in Caldwell on Friday. The closure will take place to allow crews to finish demolishing the Ustick Road Overpass.
The section of the interstate will be closed beginning at 10 p.m. on Friday and is expected to reopen at 7 a.m. on Saturday. Traffic will exit onto Franklin Road in Caldwell (Exit 29) and be detoured to Nampa and Caldwell Boulevard to Exit 33 near Karcher and Midland Boulevard.
The full detour map for the closure can be viewed here.
The Ustick Road Overpass demolition and construction in the area are expected to last for about 15 months, according to the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD). Officials said replacing the overpass will make room for additional lanes on Interstate 84 between Caldwell and Nampa.
The overpass will include two lanes of travel in each direction with a center turn lane, sidewalks and bicycle lanes on both sides once construction is completed.
