Pleasant weather turns unsettled; valley rain and mountain snow return midweek

The daily forecast from Idaho's trusted KTVB First Alert Weather team.

BOISE, Idaho — After a cloudy day Monday, those clouds stuck around Tuesday morning. While more sunshine is expected by Tuesday afternoon, temperatures will drop into more seasonable territory as cooler air is pushed into the region. That means most of the Treasure Valley will top off in the low to mid-60s on Tuesday, with mid to upper 50s in the mountains.

On Wednesday, a system developing to the west looks likely to introduce moisture and cooler air to our area, bringing a quick round of rain and mountain snow Wednesday evening, along with cooler conditions by Thursday. Although rain chances are low for valley locations, it is possible that rain showers could put a damper on outdoor plans Wednesday afternoon and evening. Snow levels will lower to around 6,000-7,000 feet overnight on Wednesday, with about an inch or more of snow accumulation anticipated at higher elevations. Brief breezy winds will accompany that system on Wednesday evening, with sustained speeds around 20-30 mph with gusts to 40 mph. After that, highs rebound back into above-average territory mid-week and stay a few degrees above normal through the weekend.
