Snow blankets Boise area after December storm

Idaho State Police are dealing with a number of slideoffs on the icy roads.

BOISE, Idaho — Many people around the Treasure Valley woke up to snow blanketing the streets, yards, and sidewalks outside their homes Friday morning.

The Ada County Highway District is working now to treat and clear roadways.

Those headed to work or school should use caution amid the icy conditions, slow down, and leave plenty of room to stop or change lanes. Drivers should also take extra time to make sure all their vehicle windows are clear of ice before heading out.

Multiple slideoffs have been reported, with semi trucks struggling to get up the hill near Hammett on I-84 and a number of crashes near the Orchard Street exit in Boise.

Temperatures will rise above freezing later Friday for a high of 39.

Snow showers are likely finished for the lower Valley, but more accumulation is possible in the mountains Friday. The weekend will bring more precipitation, with a Winter Storm Warning in place for the West Central and Boise Mountains, which could see several feet of snow above 4,000 feet.
