BOISE, Idaho — A Winter Storm Watch will begin late Tuesday evening and be in effect through Wednesday afternoon in seven Idaho counties and one Oregon county. Snow accumulation may reach nearly eight inches, and winds could reach 30 to 40 miles per hour.

Beginning Tuesday, the following counties will be under a winter storm watch:

  • Adams, Idaho
  • Boise (County), Idaho
  • Camas, Idaho
  • Elmore, Idaho
  • Gem, Idaho
  • Valley, Idaho
  • Washington (County), Idaho
  • Malheur, Ore.

Winter storms will arrive early Wednesday morning with the possibility of snow during the morning commute. Rain will be mixed in during the day. Snow showers will begin in southeast Oregon late Tuesday night and move into Southern Idaho early Wednesday.

Temperatures will be cold enough to bring snow into the Treasure Valley, but it will be difficult for it to accumulate.

The "sweet snow spot" with this round of weather looks to be into the Central Mountains.  Sun Valley, Stanley, and the Camas Prairie may pick up over one foot of snow.

Travel may be difficult on Mountain roads through Wednesday due to gusty winds. Winter Storm Warnings are posted to reflect these concerns.

The main portion of this storm will move through the area by late tomorrow and into Thursday. Read more here.

Parts of the Magic Valley will receive one to two inches of snow, while McCall will receive four to six inches and Hailey will receive four to eight inches.

More storms will arrive near the end of the week, with rain in the valley and snow in the mountains.
