BOISE, Idaho — A Utah man is behind bars after police say he carted away ATMs from multiple Boise businesses over the past month.

Sixty-three-year-old Clarence Lancaster of Salt Lake City is charged with three felony counts of burglary.

Police say Lancaster struck a business near Milwaukee Street and Franklin Road on April 28, then in the 700 block of East Park Street May 6, then finally the 4800 block of West Emerald Road on May 24.

In each of the burglaries, investigators say, the suspect broke into the businesses late at night or early in the morning, unplugged the ATMs, loaded them on a handcart and hauled them away.

The machines were later found discarded in a field off of Emerald Street, with all the cash missing. Police have not released a total of how much money was stolen.

Surveillance cameras captured images of the burglar and his vehicle, and detectives were ultimately able to identify Lancaster as the suspect. Officers spotted him walking near Beacon Street and Broadway Avenue on Sunday, and took him into custody.

The investigation is ongoing, according to the police department. Lancaster is due to appear in court Tuesday.
