Sophia Bliss has been a part of the KTVB team since December of 2019. She started producing for the Wake Up Idaho team and continues to work as a producer. Additionally, Sophia is a meteorologist. She writes special weather stories and forecasts as a member of the weather team. She loves the science of weather and enjoys the opportunity to explain how “magic” of the science works.
Sophia came to Boise after working at a national weather tv network in Denver, Colorado. She grew up in the Southern California area and graduated from the University of California Irvine where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Earth System Sciences. Sophia went on to the nationally respected Broadcast Meteorology Program offered at Mississippi State University where she earned her certificate.
Neither California nor Colorado felt like the kind of place she wanted to live long term, so she sought out a place that had the natural beauty she longed for. Not only mountains and rivers but a place that has a community where she could make her home.
Sophia first became interested in weather in her high school AP Environmental Science class.
When she’s not at work, Sophia loves to spend time with her husband, Ethan, and family. She looks forward to continually discovering all the wonderful and endless “gems” in the Gem state.
