Tips from the public lead to Nampa's man arrest on sex assault charges

BOISE, Idaho — Boise Police detectives are crediting tips for the public in helping them identify a man wanted for an attempted sexual assault near the Boise Airport earlier this month.

Officers say on Nov. 14 the victim was at a hotel on the 2500 block of W. Sunrise Rim. Around 11 p.m., a man struck up a conversation with the woman before forcing his way into her room. The woman and her dog were able to scare off the suspect, who fled the scene.

Detectives obtained a surveillance photo of the suspect and released it to the media asking for help identifying the man.

The suspect was identified as 27-year-old Juan Carlos Aguiar of Nampa.  

A warrant for Aguiar's arrest was issued Monday and US Marshals located him in Boise and took him into custody without incident.

He was booked into the Ada County Jail on charges of battery with intent to commit a serious felony and failure to update registered sex offender registration information.
