BOISE, Idaho — After giving the public a few design options for the upcoming Castle Hills Park, Boise Parks and Recreation (BPR) tallied the votes and released the winner.
BPR said in a news release Tuesday the LuckyDog Recreation declared the winner as the design received 54.6% of the total vote. They said over 1500 people participated in the voting.
While a design is settled, BPR said the next step is to allow construction companies to bid on the upcoming project. So, there is no information on when the park will be constructed.
On February 26, the original park was destroyed by a fire and was considered a total loss. The Boise Fire Department and the Boise Police Department began investigating the cause of the fire and confirmed it was set on fire initially and was deemed as arson.
"This is a very disappointing situation, and we are working closely with Boise Police, Boise Fire, and the city's Risk and Safety team on next steps," said Boise Parks and Recreation Director Doug Holloway. "The playground is insured, but we anticipate the clean-up and costs to replace the equipment will be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars."
