BOISE, Idaho — The Boise Police Department(BPD) revealed the missing 16-year-old was found in Texas. A suspect is also in police custody in Texas on felony charges.
On Tuesday, BPD said the teen was found at a home in Houston, Texas, along with the suspect, 24-year-old Ruben D. Visquerra Aguilar of Houston. Visquerra Aguilar is facing first-degree kidnapping and human sex trafficking of a child charges.
The teen was missing for four days as she was first reported to be missing on Thursday, Oct. 10. BPD said she packed a bag and left a note saying she was running away from home.
BPD said its Boise Police Special Victim's Unit and Boise Police School Resource Officers started investigating and found the 16-year-old was speaking with a stranger online. Police said the teen traveled through Eastern Idaho, Utah and then to Texas.
“Kidnapping and human trafficking are some of the most concerning dangers when it comes to online predators,” said Lt. Ransom. “Child enticement online is something we see far too often, and we encourage anyone who has been a victim to seek support and report it to law enforcement.”
On Oct. 14, police said she was found with the help of the Houston Police Department’s Human Trafficking Unit. Visquerra Aguilar was taken into custody on an Ada County warrant.
BPD said another person helped transport the teen to Texas, and law enforcement is still investigating.
"The victim is receiving support services in Houston, TX and they are working with her family to bring her home," police said.
