BOISE, Idaho — Skiers and snowboarders rejoice as several mountain resorts are expected to open this weekend.
Brundage Mountain
On Monday, Brundage Mountain officials said if weather permits, their season will open on Friday, Nov. 22.
Those itching to hit the slopes will also have something new to look forward to the resort's new 18,000-square-foot base lodge called the Mountain Adventure Center.
The new lodge includes ticketing, guest services, the Mountain Sports School, a daycare, gear shop, retail shop, coffee shop, and restrooms – all on one level. The lower level of the adventure center has a ski and snowboard tuning shop, indoor day locker rentals and a private locker room for season locker holders.
The new building allows Brundage Mountain Sports School to offer a wider range of programs for children, including the Mountain Explorers program for kids ages seven and older. Also, the daycare is state-certified and provides care for children from six weeks to six years old.
Brundage is also offering a new $30 Beartopia lift ticket this season, which provides full-day access to beginner and novice trails and all of the mountain's terrain parks.
For new skiers or boarders, Brundage is offering a new Brundage Starter PAK, which includes three 90-minute lessons, three days of lift access, season-long rentals and an unlimited season pass upon completion of the third lesson.
Brudage also implemented its own fire department and EMS service, which will start this season. The Brundage Mountain Emergency Medical Services (BMEMS) has acquired licensing as a transport EMS agency, and the fire department has a new fire truck and trained volunteer crew.

Bogus Basin
Bogus Basin Mountain officials said their mountain opening date is Saturday, Nov. 23.
Skiers and snowboarders will notice a change as the mountain has new chairlifts, which will be operational for the 2024/25 winter season.
The mountains two oldest chairlifts being the Bitterroot and Coach chairlifts were replaced over the summer with with a highspeed-Skytrac 4-person lifts, Bogus Basin said in a news release.
Before the upgrades, the Bitterroot and Coach chairlifts had been in operation for 50 years, but Bogus Basin officials decided it was time to upgrade them to keep up with demand. In May, pieces of the old chairlifts were auctioned off to the public.
Bogus Basin said the two new chairlifts will reduce wait times. The Bitterroot chairlift will also give skiers access to a new intermediate ski run called the Wake Up Jim.
Bogus Basin said skiers can also look forward to quicker access to all their chairlifts as they have RFID technology. Also, for those who rent skis, officials said they purchased brand-new equipment.
