BOISE, Idaho — A man has been charged with three counts of robbery, with enhancements for use of a deadly weapon in commission of a felony, following an incident with Boise Police Department (BPD) that resulted in the suspect being hospitalized.
In a news release Friday, it was announced that Adam Cook, 40, of Boise, was in police custody at the hospital.
Cook was hospitalized after a shooting involving two Boise police officers following an altercation on Tuesday night.
Police allege that on Tuesday night, Cook had robbed a business at gun point before being found by officers a short time later, which led to the shooting.
BPD said there were two other robberies that also occurred in the days leading up to Tuesday night, that were tied back to Cook.
On Sept. 15, a suspect allegedly went into a business on Fairview Avenue, where he asked for money at gunpoint. He also stole the employees car keys and car, abandoning them nearby, said police.
On Sept. 21, the same suspect also allegedly entered another business, off of Overland, showing a handgun in his waistband.
On Tuesday, Sept. 24, officers identified Cook as the suspect in both cases.
Then, later on Tuesday, a similar incident happened, where a suspect, later identified as Cook, went into a Fairview Avenue business, robbing it at gunpoint. Cook led police on a chase, which then led to a standoff after he jumped a fence into the backyard of a home on North Redway Road, according to police. That was when the shooting happened.
The two officers who fired shots have tenured careers, and are on leave for the time being, which is police policy.
Additional charges related to the Sept. 24 incident are pending, police said.
The Ada County Critical Incident Task Force, led by Meridian Police, is still investigating.
