BOISE, Idaho — For some Idahoans, colder temperatures mean it's time to head to the mountains, finding peace and comfort in Idaho's many hot springs. One popular hot springs, Kirkham, will be temporarily closed for bridge repair.
According to the Boise National Forest (BNF), the hot spring's recreational site, located three miles east of Lowman, will be closed from Nov. 11 to Nov. 15 as contractors work the area. There will be no public access during those days.
The bridgework is part of a larger effort to improve and add amenities to Kirkham Hot Springs. The bridge, once completed, is the first in many upgrades coming to the site. Other upgrades being made include parking, trails, pool access and other infrastructure. The projects are expected to be completed by Summer 2025.
BNF said that funding for this work comes from the Great American Outdoors Act of 2020.
