DONNELLY, Idaho — A Donnelly man who disappeared after setting off on a UTV ride Friday afternoon has been found dead, authorities say.
The body of 65-year-old Brian Randall Ekman was discovered Monday in Lake Cascade.
Ekman sparked a search after he and his dog, a 14-year-old yellow Lab named Cheech, didn't return home from their ride.
The Valley County Sheriff’s Office said a citizen spotted Ekman's Polaris General in about ten feet of water near the south of Boulder Creek boat launch, and called dispatch. The missing man's body was inside the UTV.
Detectives say it appears that Ekman's Polaris got stuck in the sand on the steep embankment, then rolled into the lake.
Cheech was not found, authorities say, and there did not appear to be any dog tracks in the sand.
"The Valley County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all partner agencies that assisted in looking for Ekman and we extend our deepest condolences to the surviving family and friends of Ekman," the sheriff's office wrote in a release.
