Motel homicide suspect in custody after 7-day manhunt

Thunderbird Motel homicide suspect, 58-year-old Brian M. McGehee, was apprehended Tuesday, suspending Mountain Home Police Department's week-long manhunt.

MOUNTAIN HOME, Idaho — Following a week-long search for the homicide suspect, 58-year-old Brian M. McGehee, Mountain Home Police Department (MHPD), confirmed Tuesday, June 4, that he had been located and apprehended by police.

Police had been searching for the McGehee since May 28, after they found a man dead in a room at Thunderbird Motel in Mountain Home while performing a welfare check of a missing person.

After finding the deceased man, police said that initial evidence found in the motel room was sufficient to rule the death a homicide.

According to MHPD, McGehee took the victim's vehicle and fled. For seven days, police searched for the suspect, believed to have been driving a 2010 Mazda XC9 with Idaho license plates.

The victim's identity will be released by the Elmore County Coroner's Office at a later time.

The investigation is actively being investigated. Anyone with information about McGehee and the related incident is asked to contact their local law enforcement office.

KTVB reached out to MHPD investigators for more information, but no additional details were provided. This is a developing story, and more details will be provided as they are released.
