BOISE, Idaho — Following crucial wins last week, Coeur d'Alene, Meridian, Twin Falls and Council all moved up in the latest Idaho high school football state media poll, released Tuesday.
Boise, who was upset by Kuna 47-44 in Week 8, dropped one spot in the rankings. The Warriors jumped the Brave for the No. 3 spot ahead of their battle with top-ranked Eagle for the 5A Southern Idaho Conference title on Friday. Coeur d'Alene replaced Post Falls after defeating the Trojans 34-21.
Tuesday's media poll marks the final regular-season rankings prior to the Idaho high school football state championships, which kick off Oct. 27. Teams in the 5A SIC, outside of Meridian and Eagle, will play cross-division games in Week 9 based on standings.
After sitting in a fifth-place tie last week, Twin Falls jumped into the No. 4 spot at the 4A level. In a battle of 6-1 squads in the Great Basin Conference, the Bruins rolled past Canyon Ridge 43-8. Powerhouse Skyline dropped in the rankings despite beating Bonneville 43-21.
Undefeated Homedale remains at No. 2 in the 3A poll ahead of Friday's road trip to face McCall-Donnelly. The Vandals are the lone team receiving votes outside of the top five after a shut-out win over Payette in Week 8.
Council punched its ticket into the 1A DII media poll on Tuesday following a 50-7 win over Garden Valley. The Lumberjacks are riding three-straight wins after starting the season 2-3.
